One Pixel at a Time

The client needed a web presence that raises money for breast cancer research and allows users to learn more about the fight against breast cancer and the needlearts. The challenge was to create a site that educated, informed, and raised money. The Nationwide Needlearts Association (TNNA) holds a fundraising event where needleartists from around the country purchase sections of a giant breast cancer stamp to stitch in there respective art form (crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, or knitting). The artists adds their section to the giant stamp and the proceeds go to research.

One Pixel at a Time
One Pixel at a Time’s fundraising arm was Stitch to Win and it allowed users to purchase individual pixels from a virtual stamp which was actually a very complex Flash movie. Users could zoom into the stamp to select and subsequently purchase individual pixels within the image. When the user purchased a pixel it disappeared until all of the pixels were gone. Prizes were associated with each pixel purchased. This web application was a collaboration between Brian Stone and Meredith Reuter. 2006
